The Villa Values are evident every school day in grade school at St. Ursula Villa, where the emphasis on academic excellence and whole child development truly shapes the lives of our children—the leaders of tomorrow. Villa students in 1st–8th grade, partnering with their teachers and parents, set high expectations in all areas of learning and development. Each elementary student's unique talents are nurtured; individual needs are met by a caring staff. Prayer and worship, reflection and service to others are an integral part of the Villa way of life.

  • Primary Grades Curriculum (1st–3rd)

    • Highly-qualified, experienced teachers and teaching assistants
    • Small class sizes
    • Strong literature-based language arts program with a basal program and extensive supplemental materials to ensure strong, continuous development in reading, writing, speaking, spelling, and grammar
    • Math instruction and experiences that promote mathematical reasoning, problem solving, conceptual understanding, and proficiency in Mathematical operations
    • Daily religious education instruction with sacramental preparation: Reception of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion in second grade
    • Science introduction of Botany, Biology, Earth Science and the Solar System: hands-on learning and experiments
    • Social Studies emphasis on the family and larger community with an introduction to History, Map Skills, Conservation, and Ecology
    • Foreign language options of Spanish or French
    • Specialty classes of Art, Music, Library, Physical Education, Computer Lab.
    • Outdoor Education and STEM Enrichment
    • Homework Club and after school care available until 5:30 p.m.

  • Intermediate Grades Curriculum (4th–6th)

    • Highly-qualified experienced teachers who are specialized by subject at each grade level and supported by a teaching assistant
    • Academically-challenging curriculum designed to develop higher level thinking skills and the ability to problem solve
    • Daily instruction in religious education and opportunities for prayer, worship, and service to community
    • Emphasis on reading comprehension, writing process, oral and written creative expression, and appreciation of literature through the use of a basal program and extensive supplementary literature
    • Additional teachers in Mathematics to allow for smaller group instruction, levels by ability, and excellent preparation for junior high Mathematics
    • Social Studies and Science programs featuring ongoing study of History, Geography, and Physical Life and Earth Science: experiments and hand-on activities
    • Instruction in French or Spanish increases in frequency
    • Classes with specialty teachers in Art, Music, Physical Education, Library
    • Music electives of band or vocal ensemble in addition to General Music
    • Outdoor Education and STEM Enrichment
    • Field trips and guest presenters to enrich learning
