----WEEK ONE-----

Camp Invention
For students entering 1st-6th Grade
Dates: Jun 8-12, 2020
Hours: 9:00am-3:30pm
*Extended Day Option-7:30 AM to 5:30 PM with an additional cost of $80 per week.

Description:  Camp Invention is a nationally acclaimed summer program where STEM concepts come to life.  Children entering grades 1-6 gain confidence as they participate in hands-on activities inspired by world-changing National Inventors hall of Fame Inductees.  Our 2020 program activities are ALL NEW, led by experienced educators like Ms. Cutter, Ms. Horst, Ms. McPeek, & Ms. Loflin, and grouped by grade level.  Your child will love what’s in store for this year as they CREATE, COLLABORATE, and PROBLEM SOLVE.

Wearable Art
For students entering KNDG to 3rd Grade

Pokemon- Session One
For students entering 2nd to 4th Grade

Description: Calling all Ash Ketchums!  Get ready for a week jam packed full of Pokemon with Ms. Emily Kruse and Ms. Karin Kruse!  Embark on a journey to discover Pokemon in the wild, craft the perfect Pokeball, compete in battles, create your very own Pokemon, and much more!  Are you ready to catch 'em all? 

Wearable Art

Description: Attention all force-sensitive Star Wars fans! The Rebellion needs your help to defend the galaxy from the evil Empire. Join Jedi Master Evers at our Jedi Training Academy this summer to learn how to use the Force, make your own lightsaber, complete Jedi challenges, hone your space-pilot skills, and create your own Star Wars character. See you this summer, and may the Force be with you!

Safe Sitter Babysitting Training Course
For students entering 6th Grade - 8th Grade
Dates: Jun 15-19, 2020

Description: This intensive program teaches young teens the skills, knowledge, and attitudes, to be safe babysitters. Young teens need training in first aid, indoor and outdoor safety, and how to handle household emergencies before they are adequately prepared to stay home alone or watch younger siblings. Safe Sitter® graduates are prepared with the knowledge they need to prevent problems and handle unexpected emergencies. Students will have opportunities to interact with preschool-aged day campers during the session AND can even gain additional experience while earning summer volunteer hours before or after their session up at the Manor House.  Instructors will be Ms. Jeck and Ms. Shaffer.

LEGOS– Session One
For students entering KNDG to 3rd Grade

Description: Imaginations will soar as campers tap into their inner engineer and engage in building challenges, games, and LEGO-related activities with Ms. Carsen and Ms. Evers. They will of course have free building time as well. “Everything is awesome!” 

Outdoor Explorers – Session One
For students entering KNDG -3rd Grade
Dates: Jun 22-26, 2020
Hours: 9am-1pm (includes lunch/recess)

Description: Experience the great outdoors right here on the Villa’s beautiful 22-acre campus. Hike the trails, play games, explore the environment, make nature crafts, discuss basic wilderness survival skills, learn about animals and more with Ms. Nicole Schimdt and Ms. Emily Kruse. 

Harry Potter – First Year
For students entering 4th Grade to 6th Grade
Dates: June 22-26, 2020
Hours: 9am-1pm (includes lunch/recess)

Description: Calling all witches and wizards!  Come to Platform 9 3/4 and be transported to the magical world of Hogwarts.  Here you will attend classes like Potions, Transfiguration, and Herbology, and you will even make your own broomstick to play in a Quidditch match!  A Harry Potter themed Escape Room will add to the Hogwarts experience, but no previous magical experience is needed to join in the fun of this camp!  Ms. Wood and Ms. Berting are excited to share their love of Harry Potter with you! 

The Great Villa Bake Off
For students entering 4th Grade to 8th Grade
Dates: Jun 22-26, 2020
Hours: 9am-1pm (includes lunch/recess)
Cost: $155
Description: Inspired by the The Great British Baking Show, Senior Williams, Monsieur Tylka, and Ms. Moeder will host a baking camp with British flair.  Students will take part in baking cakes, breads, pastries and desserts throughout the course of the week.  They’ll be able to eat their creations and bring some home to share.  While there won’t be any eliminations, there will be challenge winners along the way.  Keep Calm and Bake On!

Young Artists
For students entering Pre4 to 2nd Grade
Dates: June 29-July 3
Hours: 9am-1pm (includes lunch/recess)

Description: Budding artists will explore various mediums and the different styles of famous artists with Mr. Mike while creating many masterpieces they'll be proud to display at home. 

Superheroes!
For students entering KNDG to 3rd Grade
Dates: June 29-July 3

Description: Have you ever dreamed of being a superhero? Join us for a week of superhero training and fun! Decorate your own cape and mask, play games, and complete challenges to sharpen your superhero skills, it’s sure to be a super fun week! 

SPACE
For students entering 3rd – 6th Grade
Dates: June 29-July 3
Hours: 9am-1pm (includes lunch/recess)

Description: Get ready to blast off for some out of this world space adventures!  We will learn about and then act out the Apollo 11 mission to the moon, inflate a model of the solar system and learn about the planets, and soar far beyond our home planet to learn more about our galaxy and universe through books, science experiments, art, videos, and more.  Astronaut adventures with Ms. Plummer and Ms. Emily Kruse await for all those eager to explore! 

Italian Cooking
For students entering 4th Grade to 8th Grade
Dates: June 29-July 3
Hours: 9am-1pm (includes lunch/recess)

Description: Do you love eating good food? Do you love math and science experiments? Do you like playing with slime? Then this cooking camp with Mr. Williams and Ms. Thomas is for you! Learn the techniques, science and fun behind making classic Italian foods like breads, pizza, pasta and delicious desserts. Not only do you get to eat your own tasty experiments, but you can take home your results and impress your family, too!

Mini - Musical
For students entering KNDG to 3rd Grade
Dates: July 6-10, 2020
Hours: 9am-1pm (includes lunch and recess)
Cost: $155
Description: Join Tumbili the monkey, Tembo the elephant, Kiboko the hippo, Twiga the giraffe, and the rest of the jungle gang for a very special African adventure. A group of storytellers narrates the story of Panya, a tiny mouse who uses her charm to escape the claws of Maliki, a ferocious lion. But when Maliki gets caught in the hunter's net---who do you suppose will be the first to his rescue? Welcome to the Jungle is a story of promises kept and friendships made, told in five simple songs and a stylized script written especially for young performers. Children in grades K - 3 will spend the week learning songs, dances, and basics of performing on stage with Ms. Loflin and Ms. Layne. The show will be performed at noon on Friday the 10th in the MPR. 

LEGO Robotics – Session One
For students entering 1st Grade - 3rd Grade
Dates: July 6-10, 2020
Hours: 9am-1pm (includes lunch and recess)
Cost: $155
Description: Using the school’s Lego Robotics kit, Boost, campers will build and customize Vernie, a personal talking robot friend. Campers can speak to Vernie and it will respond with facial expressions that reflect its mood. Vernie can move in all directions at variable speed on its large tracks, see objects and colors, sense distance, grip and carry accessories, make hand gestures and launch darts from its shoulder mounted launcher! Students in this camp will code Vernie’s behavior and complete other fun activities and challenges with the guidance of Dr. Cohen.  Campers will work in groups of 2-3.

Paper Arts
For students entering 6th Grade to 8th Grade
Dates: July 6-10, 2020
Hours: 9am-1pm (includes lunch/recess)

Description: Explore the textures, patterns and dimensions of paper.  Participants will create pieces that will range from works of art on canvas to designing their own journal.  Each day will be a new adventure with paper with Ms. Martin and Ms. Dawson.

Description: We will immerse ourselves in lots of creative materials and try our hands at many different projects! Whether you’re an experienced crafter and want to try something new, this camp is for you! Join Ms. Nicole, Mrs. Hall, and your friends and get your creative juices flowing!

Wheel Throwing Pottery
For students entering 3rd Grade to 8th Grade
Dates: Jul 13-17, 2020
Hours: 9am-Noon
Cost: $130
Description: Artists will focus on the ideas and methods of working with clay to build tile, sculptural and vessel forms. They will develop hand-building techniques that will include carving, modeling, wheel throwing in addition to exploring techniques to create expressive surface designs. Consider making a day of it and sign up for Oil Painting from 12:30-3:30 (be sure to pack a lunch to eat between camps). 

Oil Painting
For students entering 3rd Grade to 8th Grade
Dates: Jul 13-17, 2020
Hours: 12:30-3:30pm
Cost: $130
Description: Artists will explore color mixing, methods of paint application, and important safety procedures when using oil paints.  Students will use oil paints to create paintings using a variety of reference materials including both still life and photographs while exploring shape, form, color, and placement of lights and darks.  All supplies included. Consider making a day of it and sign up for Wheel Throwing Pottery Camp (be sure to pack a lunch to eat between camps). 

Escape Room Extravaganza
For students entering 4th Grade to 8th Grade
Dates: Jul 13-17, 2020

Description: Who doesn’t love a good escape room challenge?  Join Ms. Jackson and Ms. Wood for a week of solving puzzles, following clues, and completing challenges.

Princess Ballet

Description: Calling all princesses from near and far! Come dressed in ballerina outfits ready to dance, share princess stories, play games, and work on special crafts with Ms. Horst and Ms. Jeck. There will be a mini recital on July 24 at 12:30 in the MPR. 

Kindergarten Reading/Writing Skills – Session One

Optional extension: Participants may enjoy Crafts and Creations camp by registering for “Reading/Writing Extension” from 9am-1pm. Camper will enjoy crafting before and after Reading/Writing Skills camp and also have lunch and recess together for an additional fee of $75. 

1st Grade Reading/Writing Skills Session 1

Description: Combining equal parts Rock Band/Guitar Hero video games on the SmartBoard and practice with real instruments, you will enjoy rocking out with Ms. Evers.  Bring your own instrument and experiment with some of the music department’s stash to explore sound creation and learn a simple song or two. 

DIY
For students entering 4th to 8th Grade
Dates: Jul 20-24, 2020

Description: Do you love a good diy project?  Then this camp is for you!  By the end of the week you’ll have created all sorts of amazing, useful DIYs like homemade candles, bath bombs, chapstick, jewelry bowls, etc. 

Summer Reading Requirement Book Club

Wet.n.Wild
For students entering KNDG to 3rd Grade
Dates: July 27-31, 2020
Hours: 9am-1pm (includes lunch/recess)

Description: Students will explore the wonders of water with Ms. Berting and Ms. Wood. Yes, there will be some science and learning involved, but they'll be having so much fun with various water-play activities to notice. Plan on getting wet each day; wear a bathing suit under your play clothes and be sure to pack a towel and your own water bottle. 

Science Sampler
For students entering 1st to 3rd Grade
Dates: July 27-31, 2020
Hours: 9am-1pm (includes lunch/recess)

Description: Scientific method, inquiry-based exploration, and hands-on experiments…oh my! Young scientists will be all about this interactive week of exploring the different areas of science including biology, chemistry, physics, and geology with Ms. Thurner and Ms. Nicole Schmidt! 

Intro to Cooking

Description: Come learn the basics of the kitchen with Señor Williams! This camp will teach the tools and techniques to get you started making delicious homemade treats in the kitchen. We will show off our skills by making fun, homemade snack foods like Cheese Crackers, Toaster Tarts, Fruit Roll-ups, Oreos and even pizza! 

Girls Who Code
For students entering 6th to 8th Grade
Dates: July 27-31, 2020
Hours: 9am-1pm (includes lunch/recess)

Description: Do you have an interest in learning to code?  St. Ursula Villa is offering a Girls Who Code summer camp. This program is designed to close the gender gap in technology.  Led by Ms. Martin and Ms. Dawson, girls will work in teams to design a computer science impact project.  No prior experience needed.

Description: Get ready to blast off for some out of this world space adventures!  We will explore our solar system, our galaxy, and the universe through books, science experiments, art, videos, and more. We will learn about NASA's Artemis Program which aims to send the first woman and next man to the moon by 2024 and ultimately propel the first people to Mars.  Astronaut adventures with Ms. Nicole await for all those eager to explore! 

Math Refresher
For students entering 2nd Grade to 3rd Grade
Dates: Aug 3-7, 2020
Hours: 9am-1pm (includes lunch/recess)

Description: Brush up those math skills and get ready for school with hands-on activities and games with Ms. Thurner. Feel free to send in Math Summer Solutions if you would like your child to work on it at the beginning of class. 

Math Refresher
For students entering 4th Grade to 6th Grade

Dates: Aug 3-7, 2020
Description: Calling all intermediate students!  Be sure to sign up for this crash-refresher course to review math skills with Ms. Harding before the school year starts.   In addition, students will have the opportunity to finish up their grade-level Summer Solutions with support from peers and teachers.

Soccer Camp
For students entering KNDG to 6th Grade

Aug 10-14, 2020
Description: Coach Hermans is a former professional soccer player and former head coach of the Xavier University men's soccer team. He brings with him many talented coaches to help young athletes learn and practice soccer drills, the rules of the game, and teamwork in a fun atmosphere. Don't forget a water bottle and soccer ball and wear shin guards and cleats.  Please note, this is a very active and intense soccer camp.

High School Entrance Test Prep
For students entering 8th Grade
Dates: Tuesdays, Jun 16– Aug 4, 2020
Hours: 10:30-noon  
Cost: $220 (includes book)
Description: Ms. Moormann will work with the students to learn about the format and become familiar with specific test-taking strategies to build confidence and prepare for the entrance exam.  Through a "weekly workout" format, students will meet for 90 minutes each week to practice high school test math and language arts material over the course of eight weeks: 6/16, 6/23, 6/30, 7/7, 7/14, 7/21, 7/28, 8/4.  There will be an identical session on Thursdays if some Tuesdays do not work.  If you miss a session or sessions, Ms. Moormann () will let you know what to make up.  The book will be included in the price and students will take the practice HSPT and receive a score and feedback. 

High School Entrance Test Prep
For students entering 8th Grade
Dates: Thursdays, Jun 18-Aug 6, 2020
Hours: 10:30-noon  
Cost: $220 (includes book)
